
This monograph deals with the everyday culture of the Russian family in the second half of the twentieth century. This is the first study on this subject based completely on oral accounts. Stories, genealogical trees, and other information about families were collected in the towns of the Arkhangel'sk and Leningrad Oblasts. Many issues of family culture are studied in the book: family as a tradition keeper, family resemblance and anthroponymia, connections between live and dead members of the family, space organization and object world of the house, history of family in genealogical stories and memorabilia, etc. Extensive bibliography (pp. 325-342).
