Abstract: Information regarding personnel management in day care was developed by day care directors participating in training workshops on administration, and from selected readings and resource materials. These suggestions focus on the requisite knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes for creating and maintaining an effective child day care work environment. Topics include general aspects of personnel management in child day care; regulations related to personnel matters; the development of written policies and procedures; the employee salary plan and benefit programs; staff selection and supervision guidelines; and employee motivation techniques. A number of forms and sample employee evaluations, job descriptions, and lists of topics to be included in and policy and procedures manuals for child day care personnel, are appended. (wz).
