Insects are so abundant and so underappreciated. It is very easy for us to wish that insects were all removed or eradicated. Such actions, however, would end life on planet earth as we know it. The truth is that insects, particularly those of the order Hymenoptera (which include bees, wasps, and hornets), serve specific and crucial purposes in our ecosystem. Some pollinate trees and plants or hunt other formidable pests that can either damage crops or injure people. This book seeks to educate and provide the reader with enough of a biological understanding to appreciate how we can co-exist and avoid injuries, with even the stinging insects.
