Author Description

Powerful leaders in the Kremlin, Washington and Cuba manipulated the politics of intrigue and power-broking in Africa. The demise of colonial rule transforms the face of Africa, and brings the Cold War - in which the forces of capitalism and communism confront each other - to the very borders of South Africa From the picturesque vineyards of the Cape to the bloody battlefields of Angola, fate entwines two young South Africans, one black, one white, on opposite sides of the conflict. The legalisation of the liberation movements and the release of Nelson Mandela bring the opposing ideologies to the brink of civil war. This history - of the bitterness and hatred of different cultures ultimately blending together over three decades to create the Rainbow Nation of South Africa - is told through their eyes.
