Author Description

Hershele was originally published in Yiddish, in 1895. It's the story of a handsome, intelligent boy who sings like an angel; however, like most of Dineson's heroes, he's a poor orphan. He has a moment of glory playing Joseph in a purim-shpil and his prestige in this little town explodes: however, his life begins to unravel as Joseph's did, even to the point of his having his very own "Potiphar's wife". (Potiphar's wife Zuleika pursued Joseph and got him into a lot of trouble...)
