Rick Donovan's day begins with a hangover - or, more precisely, a hangover followed by having to perform surgery. And then his boss has a heart attack in the middle of the operating theatre. Safe to say, it's not the best start to the week, but things are destined to get worse before they can get better. Fresh home from the trials of hospital drama and battles with the medical administration, Rick receives an urgent call from paramedics, telling him that a young woman has just been brought in with severe blood loss and needs to be operated on immediately. Quick to answer the call of duty, he rushes to her aid - only to be flummoxed by the fact that someone has stolen his car. With time running out for his patient, Rick takes the only course open to him: he 'borrows' his neighbour's car. Amidst the ensuing police investigation for his criminal behaviour, and the increased hostility from the neighbour convinced he is a hooligan, a medical romance blooms as Rick finds himself strangely attracted to the patient whose life he just saved. But not even he can predict the odd twists Fate has in store, and as romance and comedy act to make Rick's life a joke, there is yet another surprise for him around the corner.
