Author Description

Kings and soldiers, bards and boxers, druids and distance runners, actors and actresses, priests and patriots, nationalists and unionists...Irish history is the history of the Irish Gaelics, the Anglo-Normans and the Norman-Irish, the Scottish Plantations and the Protestant Ascendancy, as well as the nationalists and the eventual independence of the Irish Republic. To paraphrase John Donne, as no man is an island, no one owns the Emerald Island or Irish history. Ireland belongs to all the children of Erin.
