Over one hundred color illustrations painted by artist and author, Mark Osborne, tell the history of automobile racing in the town of Sumter, South Carolina from 1956 through 1976. During the production of this book, Osborne researched the history through the Sumter newspaper, and met with some of the drivers and their families to learn of the attraction that brought car loads of racing fans to the track every Saturday night. He gathered photos and repainted pictures from black and white photos to bring the car racing thrills and spills to life.
