Author Description

The collection of profiles of Czech linguists in Czech and Slavic studies in alphabetical order; selectively supplemented with protagonists of other fields, mainly those who had theoretically or practically contributed to the understanding and enrichment of Czech or other Slavic languages. Personal profiles loosely follow previous collective work entitled Kapitoly z dějin české jazykovědné bohemistiky published in 2007. The entries begin with brief biographical characteristics which, however, do not provide bibliographies of relevant authors but only supply a general overview of their field of research activities and outline the nature of their methodology. There are also links to bibliographic entries for each of the figures supplemented, in some cases, with their photographs.
