This book is a collection of materials for the biography of Patriarch Nikon of Moscow (1605-1681), one of the best known Russian Orthodox Church leaders, religious writer, and a great figure in the history and culture of the 17th century. In addition to the chronicle of Nikon's life and literary activity, this book publishes for the first time his Admonition to the Tsar, addressed to Aleksei Mikhailovich, along with extensive comments by the publisher.
