Bicknell, Who Departed This Life, October 26, in the Twentieth Year of Her Age The present life is a life of trial. 'the state Which we are now in, is a state of moral discipline. We are exposed to a variety of temptations. Although a gracious heavenly Fadicr/is willing to grant all needed assistance tot/those who humbly-look unto Him, in the present feeble condition of our nature, we are liable to err. Many others, many of our fel low subjects, who appeared not more liable to fall before temptations than we are, have fallen. We also may fall. Certainly then a favour is bestowed on those who, by the giiidance of the spirit of God, and by a diligent use of the means, which He hath appointed, are prepaired for advancement when they are called to enter into that more exalted and more perfect state, where nothing shall interrupt their happiness forever. Those who have well passed through their state of probation, and have been admitted into the heaven ly world, are certainly more blessed than the most highly favoured among mortals. The most highly favoured among mortals, have yet trials to endure, have. Yet temptations to resist, have yet death to suf fer. Death we all dread. Ir is called the king of terrors. We fear his attack. If we are not afraid to be dead, few if any among the Children of men can say, they have no dread of that change, which we call dying. We therefore pronounce those blessed,o.
