No profession in the last two centuries has had a more romanticized image than that of the Adirondack guide. Much of the history and folklore of the Adirondacks has the guide as a central character. Guides were instrumental in the opening of the wilderness to the general public. Stories, interviews and a list of guides fill this volume.
