Parrots are admired for their brilliant coloration, gregarious nature and remarkable intelligence. They are communal creatures that gather in small groups or flocks of thousands atop the forest canopy, in woodland clearings or on cliff sides, filling the air with their loud screeches. Severely endangered, many parrot species are now captive-bred and available to enjoy as pets, including cockatiels, budgerigars, parakeets and the larger birds such as Amazons and African grays. In Parrots 2010, world-renowned wildlife photographers create a yearlong gallery of stunning images displaying parrots nesting, roosting and preening, in company and alone, and as they are rarely seen.
