Author Description

When confronted with the diagnosis of an aggressive cancer, where do you go for comfort? For hope? This author unexpectedly found both on a 2016 hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. Days after receiving the news, her trek on one of the park's most beloved trails raised questions and offered answers about her cancer and her future through the wonders and struggles of nature that she found along the way. Her photographs of that spectacular fall day, and the poetry it inspired, are presented here side-by-side. Together they capture the reconciliation of a mind and heart facing an uncertain future. She hopes her insights also offer comfort and hope to those on their own hike to the edge of life and death.
