Author Description

These short hiking narratives, written over three decades, showcase the wilder side of Vermont. Its mostly forested landscape inspires the author. He wonders as he wanders through the Green Mountains and half-hidden corners of the state, reflecting upon humankind's relationship with the natural world. Whether bushwhacking, trout fishing backcountry streams and ponds, backpacking for days on end, or merely out for a short walk in the woods, McLaughlin ruminates. Yet he remains completely immersed in the here/now, marveling at the beauty and mystery of nature.
