This book sounds the alarm about dangerous doctrines being taught in many of today's churches. Defining "heresy" as any teaching contrary to the Bible's overall message which could lead the person away from an eternal destiny in the heavenly Jerusalem, the author discusses seventeen common false teachings, eleven in mainline churches and six in evangelical churches. The author compares each teaching to scripture, showing its error. He then explains how believing the erroneous teaching can endanger a person's eternal destiny. Many Christians will be challenged when they find a closely-held belief they have been taught all their life does not aligned with what the Bible teaches. Many will become convicted when they find that closely-held belief has led them into a lifestyle of living for themselves, instead of living for God. The author's purpose in writing the book is to make today's Christians aware of these false beliefs and their potential effect on their eternal destiny; to encourage pastors and Bible teachers to examine their church's doctrines in the light of scripture, to be sure they are teaching the truth of God's Word instead of the words of men. The final part of the book uses extensive quotations from the NASB to reveal what the Bible actually says true saving faith looks like. Most Christians will be surprised there is much more to the faith that really saves than they realize, and that they need to re-examine their faith. All who want to be sure they are on "the narrow way that leads to life" of Matthew 7:14 owe it to themselves to read this book.
