Samaniego taught for four years at Utah State University before going to the University of California at Davis where he served as Supervisor of Teaching Assistants and Coordinator of the first-year Spanish program for twenty-four years. A specialist in foreign-language pedagogy, Professor Samaniego has been a frequent presenter at foreign-language conferences across the country. He coauthored four college texts and the AATSP PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT HANDBOOK SERIES FOR TEACHERS K-16, VOLUME 1: SPANISH FOR NATIVE SPEAKERS. He is also coeditor of LANGUAGE AND CULTURE IN LEARNING: TEACHING SPANISH TO NATIVE SPEAKERS OF SPANISH. Professor Samaniego received his bachelor of arts from New Mexico State University and his master of arts from the University of Iowa.
