Author Description

Dirty Tears II is a rare and often invisible perspective coming out of the epidemic of Mass Incarceration in the United States. As a collection of writings and artwork composed by inmates at Folsom State Prison, Dirty Tears II features works from both male and female authors. Each essay, poem and artistic contribution is a reflection of the emotional and experiential challenges that have shaped each individual prisoner's worldview. Topics range from reflective poems about incidents that led to incarceration to insightful narratives challenging the systematic approach to rehabilitation, sentencing, and parole.
