The analysis begins with a description of the physical oceanography as derived from the time series data. The results of a numerical model are introduced and a more quantitative approach is taken to analyze the variability of the circulation and salinity distribution, and attribute the fluctuations to the three environmental forcing parameters: tide, freshwater inflow, and wind. The flushing of the estuarine system is examined and the implications for the dispersal of material introduced into the system at varioous locations are discussed. Finally, the local wind climate is used to derive empirical wave climate for three locations in Inner Bay and the implications for the resuspension of sediments are discussed.
