Excerpt from The St. Andrew's College Review: Christmas 1940 On behalf of the school, the review would like to take this opportunity of welcoming our twenty-one friends who have come from other parts of the British Empire and from South America. We would also like to express our sympathy for the twelve boys whose homes are in the British Isles, and we sincerely hope that they may find in Canada the peace and happiness which Germany has temporarily taken away from their own country. It is surprising how quickly these boys from other parts of the globe have adapted themselves to our life at St. Andrew's. In many forms they have put the old boys to shame, and a number of them attained some very high percentages at Half Term. Although they have been with us for only a short time, they have already contributed much to the life of the school, and on many occasions we Canadians are profiting by their examples. It is our hope that they, too, are benefiting by their contacts with us, and that they may carry away from this school something which will be of value to them in later life.
