Biography - a New Yorker takes a job as a government nurse in Barrow, Alaska - and stays to experience the cultural changes that took place among the Inuit during the building of the Alaskan pipline. Told with humor, the author lived with no plumbing, no electricity, no store, and only her humor to help her survive in Alaska's northernmost outpost.
