Author Description

The artwork in this book dresses the emotional impact of Covid 19 -- reflecting the balancing act required to offset ongoing tension and fear with optimism and hope. It also places the pandemic in a larger historical perspective, by juxtaposing each piece of art with extracts from letters written by the artist's grandfather during World War II. Although written 78 years ago, these extracts speak to many of the same themes concerning people during the 2020 pandemic, whether it is concern about loved ones, about one's health, food for the table or the importance of social ties.
