
My own teaching principle: Taylor’d Pilates, is a comprehensive conditioning technique and can enhance performance in any activity. It will challenge co-ordination, massage internal organs, stimulate your immune system, oxygenate tissues (through the focused breathing patterns) and relax your mind. Many benefits await the committed Pilates enthusiast in a uniquely gentle, low joint stress approach to mind-body health. It is the long-term intention of Taylor’d Pilates to make this wonderful movement experience accessible to all. We personalize the method for the individual by providing many progressions of the original work of Joseph Pilates. We aim to make a difference in elite sport performance, physical therapy, hospitals, exercise facilities and your own home. The following exercises are Pilates-based Mat Work on the BOSU, designed to balance musculoskeletal strength and flexibility in a holistic manner. The movements promote optimal neuromuscular patterns that are present in a normal, healthy posture and efficient movement. The techniques work from the inside out (i.e. core musculature), rather than focusing on the superficial muscle groups alone. Many of the deep-lying core muscles have a protective function for the lumbar spine, and this may contribute to the therapeutic benefit of Pilates on the BOSU. This guide is designed for Certified Pilates instructors, trainees, fitness professionals and anyone who wants to challenge their body in this unique commitment to integrating use of the BOSU, which on its own, is demanding and fun.
