Abstract: Laypersons and health professionals will gain insight into anorexia nervosa - the wents and conditions that can lead to it, the thinking behind it, the dangers, and the process necessary for recovery. The authors try to describe how anorexic patients view themselves and view food. They explain how bulimia is a variation of anorexia nervosa rather than a separate illness. The role of the anorexic's family, the issue of control, and obtaining treatment are discussed. The experiences of recovery, both psychological and physical, are described. Notes are included at the end of each chapter, and an index is located at the back of the book. (as).
