It is the earliest day of the Cold War. In 1946, the relationship between the United States and its former WW II ally the Soviet Union is becoming increasingly strained. America, the only country that can deliver a nuclear strike, rules the postwar world. The Soviets are frantic to catch up in areas of technology.The Soviets target and capture a brilliant Austrian inventor they feel can help them greatly. Surprisingly, the technology innovator is also a Hollywood movie star.The fledgling CIA knows it has to rescue the inventor. A frantic chase and cat and mouse game begins in Vienna, makes its way to East Berlin, and comes to a shocking conclusion deep in Soviet controlled East Germany at the Polish border.
