Journaling isn't the same as writing a novel or a non-fiction book, and it doesn't require attending a special class. Writing your life reactions to your grief pain, will bring you relief as you allow your emotions to spill out onto these pages. It also becomes the source of reviewing your life when the color fades from your memory. Journaling promotes the untangling of emotional cobwebs and emphasizes the need for thankfulness and focusing on others. This journal's integrated chapter questions help you tell your husband's and your life's stories. It is designed to be used with the companion book Good Grief- I Need Relief! A Widow's Guide to Recovering and Rejoicing. The book contains basic grief information plus a few journaling questions at the end of each chapter. This journal includes extra questions and space for more complete expanded thoughts. Although the first chapter in the companion book starts with the funeral, the journal begins with some background information such as: how and where you met your husband, where you were married, the places you lived, where you worked, and your occupations. These details make names come alive and travel on through a family without becoming black ink spots on a stale piece of ancestry paper. After completing the journal, please pass it down to your children so they in turn can pass it on to their succeeding children that it might bless several generations. "That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: and might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God" (Psalm 78:6-8).
