The media rarely paints the African continent in its best colors. Wars, repeated coups, famine, disease, corruption, and endemic poverty with its fatal corollaries seem to envelop Africa in a thick cloud that obscures its splendor. Yet, despite its difficulties, Africa is plural, beautiful, and rich. If the natural resources of which it abounds are perceptible, the treasure of wisdom jealously guarded on the tablet of the consciousness of our ancestors often goes unnoticed. Paradoxically, African proverbs are under-exploited, and the new generation tends to sacrifice them on the altar of foreign philosophies. And yet, this is where his deepest riches lie.
