Study on the Origin of North Korean MilitaryWhy should North Korea Kim Jong-un focus on “sports?” In 2011, when Kim Jong-un appeared as a successor, he spoke of “soccer soup, a physical powerhouse”. North Koreas Sportsmen Union Conference was also held. In the fall of 2012, Jang Sung-taek, who was once known as the real leader, was chaired by the National Sports Guidance Committee. Amid the slumping inter-Korean relations, he also showed his positive appearance by sending a large team to the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. Why is North Korea so engrossed in sports with such a huge budget and large numbers of people? Where are we still experiencing economic hardships, and why are we putting enormous national energy on mirage-like “sports” in the face of conflict with the great powers? The book starts with this question. Sports are a good way for North Korea to easily compete with its superpowers. Winning international matches is wrapped in leadership of top leaders. Football, shooting, boxing, weightlifting and other promising sports are being intensively nurtured. For athletes, mentality such as unique thoughts and military spirit is emphasized as the key to victory and loss. Since most North Koreans are in the military, their favorite sporting game is a good means of combining political ideology and physical education. North Koreas "military sports" approach surfaced in 2011. Its roots, however, inherit the characteristics of “defense and physical education” that was practiced throughout North Korea in the late 1960s. At that time, Kim Il-Sung strengthened the military economy and military athletics amid changes in relations with powerful nations. The method of physical education for national defense during this period was summed up by Kim Il-sungs speech at the 1969 Athletic Congress. Since then, it became the basic foundation of “Jeong-il sports technology and ideology” led by Kim Jong-il in the 1970s and 1980s. (Opening a book )
