Crackling good baseball yarn and remarkable human interest story tells of Ramon "Tru" Dixon's struggles to create a little league team from a group of street-wise, underprivileged kids. Most have never played before. It details the exciting and sometimes dangerous episodes and games along the way. With determination and dedication Tru leads the team to overcome their own inexperience, gang violence, discrimination, a problematic school system and their own traumas. He inspires them to make it together to the championship games and individually to solid academic footings. Today Dixon is working towards the creation of a national youth complex. There hundreds, if not thousands, of children will have a safe environment in which to learn, live if necessary and play.
