We are often told that Faith and Politics should not mix. God and Washington is about mixing faith and politics. Through the use of scripture and Catholic Social Teaching, this book provides an introduction, a comfortable 25 pages designed for the average person to read, into a discussion of how a Christian faith meets with the political world.It's written as a comfortable 25 pages for the average person to read. The goal is not to tell people how to vote, but to inspire questions, discussions and spur a deeper curiosity. The topics addressed are the Vision of the Church, the Role and Responsibility of the Government, and the Responsibility of the Individual.At it's core, this work shows how faith is not meant to command one to vote a certain way, but gives us attitudes and dispositions to help lead the people in making decisions that will lead our government toward preservation of human dignity and freedom for all people and pursuit of the Common Good. Christians, and Catholics, will disagree on the policies and candidates that will get us there.
