The Replica opens with a young art blogger, Harriet Washington, reflecting upon a notification she received that has turned her from art blogger to murder mystery solver. The notification seemed innocent enough. Harriet was to track the sales of the paintings, interview the buyers, and moderate discussions on her blog concerning the works of Leonardo La Truffa. This all seemed very simple until, that is, the paintings started killing. When Harriet is plunged right into a murder mystery, she has to determine if the deaths are ironic coincidences or of a supernatural cause. Is her favorite replica artist a vigilante or villain? Is it possible for a painting to kill a person, and if so, how? What made her task even more challenging was that each painting was able to claim its victim in a way that steered suspicion away from the paintings themselves. Harriet was the only person who realized what was actually taking place.
