Little children are being killed in Olympia, Washington, killed in ways which seem to be impossible. The newspapers dub them the "Houdini Murders," and the police are completely baffled and frustrated, so much so that the lead detective finally enlists the help of the Peterson Detective Agency.Eli Baker, his wife Liz, and their friend Striker are reluctant to take on the case. Liz is pregnant, there are other cases to work on, and besides, these recent Houdini killings have nothing to do with the Shadow Man, their own personal, eternal nemesis.But it turns out they are wrong!The Shadow Man has returned and the Shadow Hunters, Eli, Liz, Striker, et al, are on the case.The state capitol is about to flow red with blood.
