The early 1960s were the start of a unique era in which young people felt free to experience life in different ways than had their parents. At that time, the seemingly unlikely sport of surfing ocean waves was in full bloom. In just 2-3 years having grown from a thousand or two enthusiasts to influence millions, spreading from San Diego to Kansas City and Miami.
