This book aims to present a clear and practical account of this important subject for the benefit of trainee and practising surgeons. It describes the practical procedures, decision-making and clinical management of each category of surgical emergency and gives a concise account of the relevant underlying principles of anatomy, physiology etc. In this way it is appropriate both as a practical guide about day-to-day surgical procedure and to prepare trainees for the FRCS examination. The book is organised by body system and each chapter contains a list of key references for further reading.
