Excerpt from The Ophthalmic Record, Vol. 10: September, 1901 Cases of commotio retinas are by no means of common occur rence, surely those produced bv contrecoup, and for this reason I feel it is a duty as well as a pleasure to report a case which in several respects differs form the few that are on record up to the present time. G. E., aged 19, came to my office December 1, with a hi tory of having fallen fifteen days before out of a lumber wagon, strik ing the frozen ground on the right side of his head, and of having been dragged by his team for several rods, and subsequently uncon scious for two hours. The evening of the same dav he noticed that he could not see with his left eye, and that for several succeeding days the sight was growing worse.
