It presents in the developmental and atrophic changes of puberty and the menopause, in the vascular changes of the menstrual ebb and ow, widely and constantly varying states. Inammation of the uterus may occur during infancy before the endometrium has matured, during puberty when it is maturing, during maturity when it has reached its full physiological significance, during the menopause when it is undergoing permanent retrograde changes, Read before the Chicago Gynaecological Society, November 20, 1896, as a part of a symposium on metritis.
