My Circle of Life was a Wrecked-Angle contains the compelling memoir of a Judy Portuese Lemm, a Registered Nurse who, after twenty years of bedside nursing, returns to college at age forty to obtain a bachelor’s degree. Overcome by test anxiety, and acting on the advice of a kind professor, she seeks counseling. In those sessions, she unearths traumatic events from her early childhood which she suppressed. Flashbacks to those experiences, and those of her as a student nurse and grad nurse during the 50’s and early 60’s, are filled with pathos and humor.
