David Retskin wrote his memoir of his youth and young adulthood in Minsk, how he fought in the Soviet army during World War II, and how he met his wife, Tayba. Tayba Retskin speaks of her childhood in the shtetl of Dokshitz, surviving the Holocaust, meeting David, and the new life they built together in the Soviet Union.
