A new framework for initial teacher training and education is set out in ′Qualifying to teach: Professional Standards for Qualified Teacher Status and Requirements for Initial Teacher Training′, published in February 2002 after a period of extensive consultation. Sponsored by NaPTEC, this book intends to provide an eclectic mix of practical advice and considered perspectives in relation to the new national framework, and is of relevance to all providers and partners involved in primary ITTE.
