Risko is Professor of Language and Literacy and a Research Scientist in the Learning Technology Center at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. She is the recipient of the 1991-1992 Association of Teacher Education's Distinguished Research Award for her research in multimedia and teacher education. She is a past president of the College Reading Association and currently serves as co-chair of the Commission on Diverse Learners and Video and Literacy Special Interest Group of the International Reading Association. Her research interests focus on instructional applications of multimedia, teacher development, diverse learners, and text comprehension.
