The prose and poetry are about life as a child growing up in Glasgow. It is written with life being looked at and experienced through the eyes of a young child, a girl. The prose sets the scene for the poetry and is an historical and personal reference to how things were in the mid-forties up until the fifties. Sometimes the poetry captures the real funny images of the child at other times it expresses a more reflective and emotional content. The poetry tells stories painting the different pictures of life and what it was like living and growing up in small tenement rooms and playing on the streets back then. I hope it will give the children of this millennium and in times to come an idea of how a child lived in Glasgow and particularly Govan in the post-war years.
