Crossing Hemispheres is an anthology created by students of the Bachelor of Arts & Science (BAS) Program in my 4th year seminar course Interdisciplinary Research: Dialogues on Philosophy and Practice. In the course we explore Edward O. Wilson's challenge to the academic community in his treatise on Consilience: The Unity of Knowledge: "Every college student should be able to answer the following question: What is the relation between science and the humanities, and how is it important for human welfare?"This interdisciplinary anthology is the product of the BAS students' transformative education. It was designed to first, share their research and insights with the local and global community, and second, to generate funds which will be donated to The Romo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative in the hopes of ending the use of children as weapons of war. We cast an interdisciplinary lens on a broad range of issues, including but not limited to, the neuroscience of addiction, transformative education, questions of human values and morality, non-fictional and fictional narratives, and protection of human rights and local and global sustainability. We, the collective authors of this anthology, invite you to join in the conversation about how to cultivate the growth of the seedlings of consilience, transforming them into branches that can cross hemispheres, from the hemispheres in the human brain to the hemispheres of the globe. All proceeds will be donated to The Romo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative in support of their valiant efforts to eradicate the use of child soldiers. http://www.childsoldiers.org/
