No matter how hard parents try sometimes children will just not listen to them. This is a brief story about children (tadpoles) not listening to their parents (frogs) and being subsequently worried by strangers (fish). The tadpoles escape the clutches of the fish but are trapped and have to be rescued by the frogs and taken to the place of safety on the other side of the river where the frogs wanted them to play in the first place. The escape by the tadpoles teaches strategy and the rescue of the tadpoles teaches numeracy. Overall the story emphasises the need for children to listen to good advice and not to trust strangers.
