It was the summer of 1982. A young woman and her brother embarked on an adventure of a lifetime. In a time before the world was changed by 9/11 and the global pandemic, they purchased roundtrip tickets with open-ended returns. With a few ideas about where they wanted to go and what they wanted to see, they set off to explore, hitchhike and camp across the United Kingdom, Europe and North Africa. To prepare, they packed their steel frame backpacks with items suggested by previous travelers, travel books and items they thought they'd need. One of the items was a blank journal.
