My five children and eleven grandchildren know me, but what about my great-grandchildren? I wanted to be more to them than an old lady who walks with a cane and has a lot of cats. The thirty-one years I spent teaching secondary school are gone. My sixty years in professional and amateur theatre lie in my past. In time my great-grandchildren may hear about my three husbands, young lovers, SCUBA diving, World travel, and brushes with the law. But, they will never know what it was like for me as a child during World War II, to be sexually abused, to be a teenage girl struggling to belong, or to be on the verge of suicide and not know why.
