Author Description

The second edition of Past and Present is a history of the United States that strives to achieve the same goal as the first- to tell the unfolding story of national development from the days of the earliest inhabitants down to the present. We emphasize telling the story because we strongly believe in the value of historical narrative to provide a vivid sense of the past.
