The Old Spanish Trial was an overland trade trail between Santa Fe, the provincinal capital of New Mexico, and the Mexican pueblo of Los Angeles. It ad its various branches followed earlier routes established by American Indians. The trail recognized today as a National Historic Trail began in 1829 and continued through 1848.
