It tells how so much was done with so little and how technology has both simplified and complicated our lives. It illustrates how life was lived without cell phones, antibiotics, freeways, plastic, email, birth control or holes in the ozone. A lot of water passes under the bridge on this long, fun trip guided by the most charming and genial of tour guides. About the Author Harriette Carlin didn't have the advantage of a college education, true of many young women of the 40's. She spent her 45 working years in allied medical fields, in dental and physician's ofices, as a medical transriptionist, in medical records and as tumor registrar. In 1973 she wrote "Medi-Speller" an aid for beginning transcriptionists published by Charles C. Thomas. Her last 16 years were devoted to developing and teaching the medical ssistant program for SWOCC, the local community college. In 2003 Harriette released her new book Water Under the Bridge with Classic Day Publishing. According to Carlin, now 76, "it was a hellava ride."
