Prologue to Overlord is the title of the first book in Die Front, the first volume of three-volume history of the last year of the Second World War, European Theater of Operations. This first book in the series traces the development of the conflict that led to the invasion of Europe on June 6, 1944. It also includes a short description of that day. During the course of this development, certain units and soldiers will be introduced that the reader will have the opportunity to follow through the remaining eight books in the series -- from the Battle of Normandy (code-named OVERLORD) to the Liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp in May of 1945. The documents included in these books have been selected not only to provide a historical framework to the events described, but to allow the reader to experience those events as if witnessing them themselves through the eyes of those who did.
