Primetime!'s innovative strategies promote positive student and teacher interaction and encourage learning in new and creative ways. A comprehensive approach to strategic teaching, these activities are designed to convince students of the significance of mathematics and science in the "real" world. Teachers will discover how to promote active learning to create autonomous, lifelong learners. Based on extensive classroom experience, each strategy is defined and presented with easy-to-follow directions as well as suggestions for adapting to the specific needs of any classroom. The strategies are organized around three aspects of learning: Activating Prior Knowledge - working with the background and information that students bring to the classroom; Multiple Intelligences - capitalizing on the unique abilities of students and tapping in to different styles of learning; and Reflections - allowing students to become aware and demonstrate their growth in higher level thinking skills.
